Hi my anal sphincher has been totaly distended for a week now. Tried bowl softening treatment made the leakage of gastro fluid and made me smell like i pooped. The trouble is now it still totaly distended the poo is dropping down on it. How can i get the gp to fix this. Happend once before and i think it took 4mg of a steriod to do it but he dosent think that will work
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of swollen/distended anal sphincter with leakage of stool and hence smelling like pooped. This has happened in past and steroids helps but your GP is not feeling so this time. The probable causes are: Rectal prolapse or prolapse of piles. I would advise you the following: Rush to ER as this can be a dangerous thing is long standing. The Doctor, preferably a General Surgeon would help you to get this reduced manually, will have examination and give you the most probable diagnosis and hence helping you for the further plan of management to avoid the further complications.
