Suggest Treatment For Disorientation And Body Tremors

My sister, 66 years old, was admitted into hospital 2 months ago with confusion ….a teaching hospital….many many tests, MRI, cat scans, blood work double done…all normal ….…now, she is in a nursing rehab hospital, in a wheel chair, on pureed foods only, mostly in a very confused state…she did have the gait for several months prior to this…Dr is now treating her for parkinsons related dementia she is taking Aricept also, sigmate , the Sigmat began last week ….she shakes…It is horrible to witness this quick decline…she mostly is not there , but does have some moments of lucidity…I do know that Parkissons, Lewey body, Altizierrs, and dementia is mostly a guess for Drs? Any new amazing treatments?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Senile dementia or Parkinson’s are possible causes. Other causes like metabolic encephalopathy also are ruled out. Imagining studies like MRI may not yield anything in Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s. Consult a neurologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
