Hi Doctor, I ve had problems with swallowing food for the past 3 years. I chew food well and even after swallowing in small gulps, I keep reaching for water to let that small food gulp pass through my throat. Sometimes when too much food is stuck in my throat; I have difficulty breathing. I immediately drink water in big gulps and slightly elevate my head to push the food down. When I do that I feel a sudden sharp stabbing pain in my chest that lasts a few hours. The pain is so excruciating at times that I gasp for air profusely. This happens a lot after each meal and everyday. It s gotten worse since last 6 months. Please doctor, tell me what s wrong and what s causing it and how to resolve it?
