Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Tiredness

I am taking Dilantin and Phenobarbital. I feel confused and forgetful which are side effects of Dilantin I have been a epileptic for 58 years and taken many different drugs. I have taken Dilantin before but all by itself. I had brain surgery last year and they gave me another drug which caused me to have diarrhea 4 times a day for a year. I lost weight. I come from a family of four children and three had epilepsy. I am very tired and frustrated. Iam drug sensitive and have been given many drugs for epilepsy that did not work. What drug do you suggest?

Hello,

Firstly, you should have told me the drug name which you were prescribed after brain surgery.

Now, if your diarrhea too much, I suggest you do the followings:

1. Drink enough fluid
2. Drink ORS
3. I want you to keep 2 drugs namely, Loperamide and a combination of ( atropine and diphenoxylate).

How to take:

Loperamide: 4 mg orally after the first loose stool, then 2 mg orally after each unformed stool REMEMBER: NEVER EXCEED 10mg/DAY.

Diphenoxylate: 5 mg of diphenoxylate, orally, 2 times a day. I have given these very carefully keeping in mind that you are drug sensitive.

I also suggest you take treatment of epilepsy properly. If you can't use Dilantin, can go for Levetiracetam or Divalproex sodium. To buy these drugs, you need to have a prescription.

When you can arrest diarrhea, your tiredness will go away. Take good diet and rest. Take enough water every day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
