Suggest Treatment For Detection Of Calculi In Gallbladder

Hello! My 71 year old mother s USG of abdomen & Pelvis shows Gall bladder is well distended and shows multiple calculi within, largest measures about 13.8mm in size . She has no pain as of now. Does she have to undergo surgery immediately for gall bladder removal? Thank you!

I have read your description and understand your concern.
Gall bladder calculi is most of the times asymptomatic. It would only cause symptoms like severe pain in the right upper quadrant of abdomen and jaundice if the stone obstructs the bile duct. Sometimes, it may lead to certain dreadful complications also.
Since the ultrasound abdomen is indicative of multiple calculi in the gall bladder and one of them is larger in size with the distension indicative of its inflammation, it would be advisable to undergo the removal of stones by undergoing laproscopic surgery at the earliest.
Kindly consult Laproscopic Surgeon in this regard for proper assessment and management.
