Suggest Treatment For Depression, Obesity And Lack Of Appetite
my wife passed away one year ago, I HAVE HAD ALOT OF UPS AND DOWNS MOSTLY DOWNS. At the time she passed I weighed 370 lbs. My wife was a fierce chef in the kitchen, and I obliged her by eating. I never realized how fat fat fat I looked until she passed. Well in a year I have lost 120 lbs. mostly from not eating. I have fasted for up to 3 weeks and never felt baad about not eating. Well on another fast I hve lost 5 lbs so far. The questionis I have no desire to eat now.....I don't miss it don't crave it. is not eating unhealthy?\
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern and I am sorry for your loss. You have lost significant weight in last one year and this cant be ignored. The loss of wife has causes depressive symptoms, lack of appetite and all this has resulted in poor health. I'd advise you to consult a psychiatrist for persisting. In normal situations grief symptoms persist for about 6 months but if they persist beyond that and cause depressive symptoms then this need proper evaluation. For poor appetite and depressive symptoms medicines like SSRIs as Paroxetine, Sertraline etc are used commonly. Paroxetine will treat depressive symptoms and will also help to improve appetite. Please consult a psychiatrist for evaluation and prescription of these drugs.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
