Suggest Treatment For Depression, Anxiety And Insomnia While On Trazadone

Hello Dr. Rynne, my 28 year old daughter just found out she is pregnant yesterday, She has crohn s disease and suffers from depression, anxiety and insomnia. She takes Clonapen 40 kg., trazadone 150mg, and ativan. She did not take any of them last night. They think she is 10 weeks along. Can she quit those meds cold turkey ? She also takes Humeria injections every other sat.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is most advisable to stop taking all the drug once the pregnancy is confirmed.

If the medicine is not life-saving or very crucial then it has to be stopped at the time of organogenesis.

No drugs should be taken by mother, or else it may harm the fetus, I would advise to see the gynaecologist and discuss this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
