Suggest Treatment For Dent In The Knee After Injury

Went cross country skiing yesterday and fell on a thin spot in the snow and hit my right knee. I have full range of motion in fact I continued to ski. My problem is that now I have a small dent in the knee. Don t think I broke anything due to the pain being a 3 at the most. In fact I m not even taking any pain pills, just wondering why I have a dent in my knee cap now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are 2 main explanations:
1. possible dislocation of bones in knee joint
2. inflammatory changes after the accident.

Should apply ice compresses locally. Apply chopped onions with coarse salt. If no improvement in a couple of days should see an orthopedic specialist as soon as possible. Might need to run x-ray and ultrasound of knee joint.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
