Suggest Treatment For Cut Between Thumb And Index Finger
Hello. I am camping and I was cutting a piece of rope of a bundle of wood with a knife and cut between my thumb and index finger I mean it seems deep but I can t see bone or anything. I have gauze and bandaids on it. I have bandaid wrapped around thumb and index finger. But do I need stitches

If the wound is deep, it must be ruled out for muscle, tendon, nerve or vessel involvement. Depends on the involvement of those structures, decision on suturing will be made.
Deep cut should be sutured for better and quick healing. Since thumb is separate from rest of the fingers and involved in maximum movements, the deep cut wounds should be closed.
Any deep injury should be sutured as early as possible particular within six hours of injury. Clean the wound with sterile water or normal saline. Apply band aid to prevent bleeding and infection.
Antibiotics are advised to prevent any spurge of infection at the wound site. Consult the doctor as soon as possible.
