Suggest Treatment For Constipation In A Diabetic Person

Hi Doctor Rynne. I have been a Type II diabetic for approximately 3.5 years. Recently (past 2 months), I have had problems with constipation and needing to use laxatives/stool softeners/enemas to have a bowel movement. My doctor doesn t believe I m experiencing colonic inertia since I am not insulin dependent and only take Metformin for my sugar. My last a1c test level was 5.3. This problem with bowel movement is beginning to get frustrating since I normally have 2 solid movements per day. Now I am having to take medication and strain. Is there any chance this condition will improve without surgery or continued use of laxatives and enemas??
