Hi I am 34 female 5f2inch and weigh 11 stone I have Interstitual cystitis really bad and stopped taking the pill which was microgynon over a year ago but I now have constant flares. The doctor took me off it as I am a smoker and over weight. Is there any other hormone that may help with my I.C. Many Thanks, Kelly

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Contraceptives don't have any role in treating interstitial cystitis. Try life style changes like carbonated beverages, chocolates, vitamin C high doses. physical therapy and bladder training. Try pain medicines like Ibuprofen/try to reduce weight./wearing loose clothes. Consult a urologist for perfect diagnosis and specific treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
