TB infection in lungs heal by
fibrosis and calcification.
These lesions appear as Scar (patch) on chest
x ray. These are inactive, fibrotic
scars.
So no treatment is required for them.
They will be seen life long.
To prevent recurrent
respiratory tract infection in such patients, adult pulmonary vaccines are very effective.
Pneumococcal (every 5years) and
influenza (every year) vaccines should be taken.
Protection rate is upto 80%.
Another option is surgical removal of part of lung having this patch.
