Suggest Treatment For Chronic Migraines With Constant Pressure On Eye

I m a 23 year old female and I suffer from migraines almost daily, however I have a new symptom. When I laugh, my right eye hurts really bad, like a sharp stabbing pressure that increases on my heartbeat. This is also the same side of my head that my migraines are on (right side). Now I have a constant pressure/ache in that eye without laughing. Do you have any answers on this? Much appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello ma'am and welcome.

The first thing I would recommend is a visit to an ophthalmologist, as some issues with the eye and vision can also easily trigger frequent migraine headaches. The next thing I would urge you to check are your hormone levels, which may or may not have something to do with the migraines.

There are numerous other factors that can influence and trigger migraine headaches like long durations of starvation, exposure to extreme temperatures, sudden weight gain or weight loss, hormones in women, long gaps without sleeping or lack of sleep/irregular sleep cycle, etc. Find the cause and avoid it, to avoid the migraine headaches in the future.

Best wishes.
