Suggest Treatment For Chronic Arthritis Pain

I am 52 years old, very fit with chronic arthritis pain. The pain is in bilateral knees and lumbar spine with surgeries on both in the past. Pain is not well controlled on NSAIDs, however 50 of tramadol, po maybe 4-5 days a week helps me maintain levels of activity. Is this ok as I m hearing from sources that long term narcotic use is abuse. I disagree as my quality of life is improved and the dosage is so low.

You are having in both knees and also in lumbar spine with surgery.
All NSAIDs failed , so you took tramadol 50 mg after 4-5 days .
This is a codeine derivatives .
It has a low addiction potential .
Since this has improved your quality of life , so in that sense you can use it .
But as mentioned it causes addiction ,so it will the best thing for you don't increase the doses .
Alternatively take some lotion for massage on both knees and if possible consult a physiotherapist and get his opinion.
But since you are taking this drug ,so regularly consult your doctor about the use of this drug.
