Suggest Treatment For Child Suffering From Tiredness And Low Grade Fever

my 4 year old is tired and has a low grade fever. She at lunch yesterday and abut 3 complained of being tired and cold. Her fever was 101.7. She didn t eat dinner and this morn seemed ok. She didn t eat breakfast had some juice and a few salty chips and crackers and cheese. Her fever returned about 2 with chills and she is now asleep again.

Hi.... I understand your concern. By what you say, this looks like a viral illness.

I will explain you how a viral illness behaves, so that, you can be more confident.

Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
