Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is it normal to have chest discomfort with having a picc line? Mine was put in a week ago. I told the nurse, and he adjusted it by pulling about 2cm out. It felt a little better, but now discomfort returned. I do cough frequently and wonder if this has any affect on the tube in my chest.
1.In case of a PICC - A peripherally inserted central catheter, immediately after at the caterer insertion an x-ray will be taken ( depending on the patient condition it could be bed-side / AP view or PA - posterior atelier view in normal condition. 2.That will be reported by the radiologist with the direction of the location - and suggestions. 3.The way you have said the adjustment - should be checked for anatomical localisation. 4.In this cad i would recommend to get an ECG - to rule out any ectopics because of the PICC. 5.Chest x-ray for location and any aspiration / alveolar opacities / pneumonic changes with in the lung fields. Good luck.
