Suggest Treatment For Chest Congestion, Cough And Fever

I ve had congestion and a cough for 12 days. It started out more like the flu, sore throats chills fever and a headache. I went to the doctor 5 days ago and was given prednisone for inflammation cough medicine with codeine and Flonase. I m on the last day of the prednisone and still not feeling better. The coughing is loose and still having coughing attacks. Is this typical?

Hi,

A cough and chest congestion with flu-like symptoms is commonly caused by viral infections or allergies. However it generally settle in up to 7 days.

If not settled, I would suggest you should see your doctor for reassessment to rule out any bacteria Infection which may follow flue in few cases.
