Ophthalmologist 's  Response
hi sister
donot worry at all

these days cataract surgery in expert hands is just a matter of 5-6 minutes
your mother might need general anaesthesia for her alzheimers leave it to surgeon to decide

almost no postoperative care except instillation of 2-3 eye drops 6-7 times a dayfor few days
go ahead with the surgery without worrying
good luck

no contraindication of surgery. but with alzeamears the purpose of surgery is defeated. history of other diseases are more problematic.get proper preoperative check up and take opinion of surgeon.
