Suggest Treatment For Bursitis In Hip Area

I was first diagnosed as having bursitis in my left hip area some 20 years ago and I have had approximately 12 cortisone injections in this area over time which helped somewhat, I then developed bursitis in my right hip area and I have had 2 cortisone injections in the area. My bursitis has always been irritated by standing for a period e.g. in queues at the supermarket. In the past 6 months it has become very painful to lie on either side and has been waking me through the night. My left leg is now quite painful down to the ankle were I have significant swelling of the ankle. I am 64 years old retired and until retirement I always worked in an office.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Having corticosteroid injection may help. Take anti-inflammatory drugs such Advil or naproxen for pain and swelling. Have rest as much as possible.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
