Suggest Treatment For Bumps On Upper Thighs

Hi! I have some red bumps on just my upper thighs that appeared after shaving. They are red an have little black dots in the center. I would usually just think nothing of it but this summer I found out one of my guy friends with I cuddled with in shorts has genital herpes. He only has it on the tip of his penis and we were both wearing shorts when we cuddled. The red bumps/sores do not itch, no pain, no tingling, not clustered (his herpes is), no blister oozing or anything, but I ve been super paranoid I got herpes from him somehow. I ve never been sexually active with him or touched his penis. What is the likelihood this is herpes? Freaking out! Thank you!

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

The bumps are most likely secondary to shaving; pseudofolliculitis rather than Herpes genitalis.
Close shaving and shaving against the grain being factors that probably would have caused the bumps to form.
Herpes is acquired sexually and since there has been no direct sexual contact Or anything of sorts that would have transmitted genital herpes, you don't need to worry about it.
For the bumps you may use topical benzoyl peroxide gel twice daily for a few days. That should resolve the bumps.
If the bumps don't resolve as expected kindly visit a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis and appropriate treatment
