I am a 52-year-old woman who has had problems since I was 14 months old with what at that time was diagnosed as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Since 95, however, I ve had iritis of the left eye which frequently returns when they stop me on the steroid drops. The drops have caused cataracts, for which I ve one surgery with a lens implant and the Yag laser surgery. I also had to have glaucoma surgery on that eye when the pressure got up to 36. In the last few years, however, my pressure dropped to 2, so I had to have the first glaucoma procedure reversed. I ve since had problems with severe back pain, and was tested and found to have the gene common in people with ankylosing spondylitis, so the doctors think that is what I have, rather than RA. Within the last year, my right eye (the healthy one) has started bulging. The first couple of times the docs measured it against my bad eye, they said it was an optical illusion, because my left eyelid is always droopy since the four procedures on it. Last week, however, one of the ophthalmologists measured and said my healthy eye is definitely protruding. I had a CT scan done on it last week, and, reading from the MyChart online application, I can see that the docs wrote: (1) No acute intracranial process. Mild atrophic changes. (2) Left globe intraocular lens replacement. The orbits are otherwise unremarkable. I see an ophthalmologist again tomorrow, but I was wondering if y all could provide any info on these test results, so I ll know better what to ask him.
