Suggest Treatment For Blood In Urine

I have blood in my urine and sand. Have been to a urologist and he has had X-rays, cat scan. I have severe scoliosis which has crushed the left lung, so it is non functional. My right lung is not it very good shape in working about at half, so Dr Krinka says. I am 71 years old and have been told am not a candidate for surgery. I have 3 large kidney stones. Would appreciate another opinion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello ,
Welcome to HCM .
Thanks for sharing your concern with us .
Most probable reason of blood in urine in your case is kidney stones which is being passed . Most of the kidney stones pass through the ureter to bladder on its own . A stone size upto 4 mm has around 80 percent of chance to get passed without any intervention , 5 mm has 20 percent chance and stones larger than 8 mm has very less chances to pass on its own without ant medicine or intervention . There are medicines available like tamsulosin , nifedipine which can increase the chances of passage of such stones . If stones does not pass itself then lithotripsy or surgical methods are used .
I would suggest you to consult with urologist further.
Best Regards,
DR.S.TOMAR
