Suggest Treatment For Blood Blister On Leg Caused After An Injury
Hi, I am an 89 yeaer od female. On Warfarin 5mg per day. My leg bumped my ktchen table leg Tiesday morning and a large blood blister appeared at once. I went to my family Dr that day and he said to leave it alone. My concern is that it could open on its own and wherever I am there will be a lot of blood all over - my carpeted home, the home of someone I am visiting, while I m driving my car, whatever. Is that possible and what should I do about it? Don t know why my Dr didn t take care of it in his office. Is It worth a trip to an ER?
Commonly blood blisters heal on their own. It is better not to scratch or fiddle with it. If you are very uncomfortable then you can visit a GP, inform the GP that you are on Warfarin. Get admitted in a hospital & get it treated. Many medications & supplements have dangerous interactions with Warfarin. If you are receiving a new prescription you should get your usual doctor (who has put you on Warfarin) informed before taking the medications. Avoid situations that increase your risk of injury.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
