Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Most likely it is due to dysentery, or infection with bacteria or amoeba. It's because of poor hygiene in toddlers, since they may touch things that are not clean, and put the things or their hands in the mouth. It's advisable to do a stool test and then proceed with an antibiotic or antoamoebic medication or both.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Cajetan, Pediatrician
