Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter has bipolar mood swings but is not medicated - this is from her father who is medicated but she tells herself she doesn t need meds. She and her husband live a life of pretentiousness to others. They long for only pleasure and enjoyment and they live beyond their means and don t take care of what they have. When things get out of hand and bills pile up they either get family to support them, or walk away from their responsibilities and try to start anew telling themselves that it s others faults. They are not willing to change yet as they can t fix something that s not broken. In other words they won t admit they have a problem. How long will it take before these family members who are enabling see what they are doing?
I went through your details. I do understand your concerns. Youngsters enjoy their life because for them they are not interested in what is going to happen. This happens because of lack of experience and thereby maturity.
Maturity never should be negative thinking or obsession. As a mother you have your concern about your daughter. You suspect your daughter and her husband lead a irresponsible life. In fact, they are enjoying their life. Do you think enjoyment is irresponsible?
In their case, because of the enjoyment they are having, they will naturally refuse to even listen to you. But, it is your duty to ask and tell them everything you want to ask and tell. They are enjoying their life and you are doing your duty.
Things will change when the apt time come. The apt time has been already designed and they will learn, like you learned. Don't worry.
