Suggest Treatment For Bipolar Disorder

I believe that I have suffered serotonin toxicity...I was taking the following drugs at the time and was misdiagnosed with a bi-polar mental illness.... effexor XR, zolmitriptan, domperidone, cabergoline, tecta I suffered what they have called a bi-polar manic episode in Feb. of this year which resulted in my falling from our third floor balcony, breaking my back, cracking a bunch of ribs, fracturing my shoulder and spraininng my neck because of a hallucination.....I am still trying to recover from these physical injuries and know that at 52 years old age, I did not just wake up one day a bi-polar sufferer. help me.....

Hello thanks for asking

Effexor XR is venlafaxine and the drug belongs from SNRI group of drugs. Zolmitriptan is 5HT1 agonist and this drug also increase serotonergic transmission. Though you haven't mentioned the doses but using these drugs together can result in serious serotonergic syndrome. Venlafaxine, Zolmitriptan will produce serotonin toxicity. Symptoms like severe restlessness, giddiness, inability to focus, seizures, mood swings and even vivid hallucinations etc symptoms are seen commonly. You have got injury due to this so as per my opinion you should consult your Psychiatrist for any change in prescription or any dose adjustments if any. Take plenty of water and proper nutrition.
