Suggest Treatment For Baby Passing Blood In Stool

My baby is passing blood in his stool for three days.its green in color, mucus,loose. his dr. has suggested zink syrup 2ml twice in a day and Ciprocin 2.5 ml twice too. and also added to give him 10spoon of saline water every time he passes stools. Also added that Eldo baby LF power milk during this period. Plz suggest me if anything needed.I am very upset now. Thanks

Hi,

Even underfed babies can get green stools. This should be discussed with her doctor. I feel breast milk is the best food for baby even during diarrhea to be supplements by oral rehydration therapy (powder or liquid form as per advice by her doctor). Stool culture and sensitivity test would help for selecting suitable and effective antibiotic. Please give ample of boiled water with ORT powder to avoid dehydration.
