General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

There are two main types of medications used to treat asthma:
Long-term control medications such as inhaled corticosteroids are the most important medications used to keep asthma under control.

These preventive medications treat the airway inflammation that leads to asthma symptoms.

IMmmediate-relief inhalers contain a fast-acting medication such as albuterol. These are Beta 2 agonists, sometimes called rescue inhalers which quickly open your airways(bronchodilatation) and make breathing easier.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH
