I have studied your case and I think that you are having knee osteoarthritis and because of this deformity, pain and swelling with cracking sound coming of the knee joint. Knee arthritis is common problem in old age and there are lot of people suffering from it. Now according to stage of the disease we can plan for further management. If it is in very early stage then you can get a steroid injection in the knee joint, avoid squatting and sitting cross leg and you will be fine. If it is in advance stage then i think you will need knee replacement surgery in which cartilage is replaced my metal. so according to your stage of the disease further management can be done.
