Suggest Treatment For Arm Swelling After Being Bitten By An Insect

I was bitten by what I think was a black widow spider about 10 times on my arms, face, and neck. One arm is swollen about an inch larger then the other. The bites are red, itchy, and look like they have pus pockets on them. Should I go to the hospital?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have insect bite edema.
My opinion is that,
1. Dont squeeze or scratch the lesions.
2. Apply antibiotics like Fusiderm ointment over the area.
3. Take Levocetrizine tablets twice daily for 5 days to control itching.

Thank you.
Hope my answer will help you.
