An antisocial personality disorder is one of the most difficult types of personality disorders to treat.
Before starting the drugs, I advise to start with 1.Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which is one of the talking therapies that helps a patient to manage his problems by changing the way that they think and behave.Another choise is a social therapy:
2. Democratic therapeutic communities that aims to adress the person's risk of offending , as well as their emotional and psychological needs. The recommended length of this tratment is 18 months.
3. Self motivation is important too. For example this person may work in a community , because is important for him to be part of the community and try to give his best to it.
The last choise( but I don't support it much, only in cases of violence, aggresion and impulsive behaviour) is medications such as:
1. Carbamazepine
2. Lithium
