Suggest Treatment For An Insect Bite On The Right Arm

Six years ago, I was bitten by an insect on the back of my right arm. My arm turned black, purple and red down and around to the front side of elbow. The next day I had a hard bump at the bite location. The VA a refused my request to lance the cyst. It has flared on me twice in the past. This time is worse. I think I might have a parasite infection. It s painful to touch. Thank You jbm

Hi.
As per your case history you are having recurrent furuncles.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
