Suggest Treatment For An Inoperable Blockage In The Heart
my dad is 87. he has had two mild heart attacks in the last two months. they tell us he has an inoperable blockage and if he had another attack to just give him nitros to keep him comfortable instead of bringing him in. they pretty much sent him home to die. this is a small town dr. does this advice seem correct?

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello Welcome to HCM Thanks for posting your query. I understand your concerns. In some situations patients feel that doctors have no emotions. But that is not true. As your father age is 87 and he is having severe degree of Block, he needs to undergo major surgery called CABG tthat is coronary artery bypass grafting. This type of surgery will not be tolerated at this age group. So doctor has refused for surgery.
If you still fee like taking another opinion, you can capsule cardiologist and discuss the same.
Hope you are happy with the answer.
Thank you
