Suggest Treatment For An Injury On The Chin

I cut the underneath of my chin about 13 hours ago from a fall. The cut is only 1/2" long, but about 1/4" wide. It took awhile for bleeding to completely stop, but it never bled excessively either. It is under my chin, so cosmetically there is no concerns. I don't think I need stitches, and don't want to incur an uneeded co-pay. I just would like a second opinion on stitches or not.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Well a quarter inch deep cut generally comes under the criteria of getting stitched but in case if the margins of the cut are closed and there is no bleeding or pain then hopefully it will heal without any wide scarring..

But still a clinical examination should be done as a Physician can better assess the need of stitches after a visual examination..

For now apply antiseptic ointment over the cut and clean it using betadine liquid..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
