Suggest Treatment For Alkaligenes Faecalis Infection In Lungs

hi,my brother is in hospital from 18 days ago because of an accident injury.his lungs teared and infected (alkali genes faceles positive).two chest tube are inserted in his lungs and also truck for ventilator.last week he has fever (42 C) but now under control.also had brain truma but last CS Scan shows no problem now and his GCS increased from 4 to 8 now.would you please give some information about this case and what should i do.

Thanks for your question on HCM. By your description I can think of your brother's condition. He seems to be very critical. Ask the laboratory to test for sensitivity also. This will guide you regarding antibiotic therapy. And sincs your brother is improving I will suggest you to continue with the same antibiotics and same treatment. Many times such unusual bacteria are just contamination. Ideally you should repeat the culture and if same bacteria isolated than it is of significance. Otherwise it is just a contamination.
