Suggest Treatment For A Painful Bump Near The Eye

hello - my three year old granddaughter was bitten by a mosquito (July 4) under her eye. it was extremely swollen the next day (Sunday) and has now moved to include swelling to almost close her eye. its not painful and is soft to the touch. I have used cool compress and Benadryl but as of this morning (Tuesday 7/7) the swelling doesn t really seem to be going down. It s almost bruised looking - not drainage or pus however. Should we take her to get a cortisone injection?? thanks katie

I have reviewed your posting and will share my experience based upon dealing with this problem in good number of cases.

You are doing the right thing. However, it is not working as fast as expected because the sting was severe and the infants have tender skin.

If you would apply some hydrocortisone like cream to the area a couple of times a day, everything will settle. It is unlikely that she will need cortisone injection.
