Suggest Treatment For UtI During Pregnancy

Hi, My niece has been diagnosed with klebsiella pneumoniae, she is 32 weeks pregnant with her 3rd child and is an insulin dependant diabetic, she has a UTI a severe cough and mastitis, and has been admitted to the local maternity unit so that they can treat the infection, I would like to know if her other 2 children need to be tested for klebsiella pneumoniae, as they also have severe coughs but also have colds?

Hi , I have gone through your question. Klebsiella pneumoniae can cause pneumonia in children, especially if they are admitted to a hospital( nosocomial infection). It is contagious and spreads by droplet infection. Since their mother is infected with this organism in the urinary tract, it can spread, although very rare.
I would suggest you to get them checked for Klebsiella pneumoniae and get properly treated accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
