Suggest Treatment For SRUS

My daughter have SRUS. Proctoscopy confirmed 7cm Ulcer. Under medications Brand name Mesacol. No result are seen till one year. Blood comes out occasionally after defecation. No Pain . No Prolapse. What is the ultimate treatment. Nizam Bangladesh YYYY@YYYY

Hi there Nizam,

I am sorry for the situation your daughter is in.

Being diagnosed with SRUS (solitary rectal ulcer syndrome) is the cause to blood coming out after defecation.

Mesacol is the brand name for the generic Mesalamine which is an anti-inflammatory aminosalicylate drug. It will help in the healing process of the ulcer. However, it will take some time until full improvement.

If the blood is occasionally seen, then, there are good chances to get her ulcer healed. Please keep following up with her pediatrician-gastroenterologist for continuous evaluation of the ulcer and prevent other ulcers onset.
