Hi Prabhu,

Your father needs treatment for alcohol dependence. It is done in two phases, detoxification and maintenance. The detoxification phase is with medicines and lasts for around a week. The maintenance phase starts after that and involves both medicines and counseling. In this phase, issues like relationship problems are also addressed and family members are also counselled. Please consult a psychiatrist so that your father can receive the proper treatment.

Best wishes.
