Suggest Tests To Diagnose Osteoarthritis And Bone Cancer

my sister is having a bone scan tomorrow, injecting dye. Can a bone scan detect osteoarthritis or would they be looking more for bone cancer or multiple myeloma? She has had breast cancer and melanoma so I am more curious what they might really be looking for.

Hello,

An advanced form of breast cancer can spread(metastasis)to bones especially long bones of hip and ribs. Bone scan is done a routine test to look for bone spread. If there is spread to bones, the treatment plan will be different. We can also detect the presence of osteoarthritis as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
