Welcome to Healthcare Magic,
Oh, my dear woman, you are actually doing wonderful!!! Let me explain. . .when one quits
smoking there is an ACTUAL change in an enzyme that causes the body to store more fat and even with the same calories and exercise routine the average weight GAIN is twenty pounds.
You haven't gained ANY!
Now, it has been quite some time now, so I understand your frustration. You ask if
Chantix could be playing a role and you know everyone is different. So, with this in mind, let me tell you what the evidence says:"May cause increased or decreased weight; increased appetite; constipation; gas; taste changes; caution with alcohol;insomnia; headache;sleep disorder; edema;depression; anxiety;
To solve this question, I suggest the following. Start keeping a journal for a minimum of one week. Include the Date, Time, Food, Amount, Mood
Include a Note Section for each day to address whether you slept well, your
stress level, irritability, hunger and exercise times/types/length that day.
Next, schedule an appointment with a Registered Dietitian either virtually or close to you and take your food diary with you and work with her on an individualized diet to lose weight on taking into consideration types of food, amounts, timing, timing according to activity, composition and timing according to activity, a general idea of calories/portion sizes, stress control if needed, a review of sleep habits, and anything else needed to set up a program that works for YOU and a person to come back to when something doesn't work and needs revision.
I want to encourage you to keep exercising and eating a healthy diet. This can be figured out, but not in a forum. Please follow-up with a private Dietitian who specializes in Weight Loss/Sports. Regards, Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
