Hi
valve prolapse and valve thickning both are different thing secondly there are 4 major valves in the heart which on of them have prolapsed, every valve can prolapse and prognosis is different for every valve .
Though i would answer considering it as mitral valve prolapse
In many instances, having MVP will not impact your health and requires no treatment.
People with an abnormal mitral valve may need mitral valve repair or replacement if:

Symptoms are getting worse
The left ventricle of the heart is enlarged
The heart function gets worse

Though it a serious disease , i usually remains dormant for yearsand asymptomatic also.
so i would suggest you to repeat a 2 d echo every 6 months and follow up with a cardiologist , though usually asymptomatic but can some times be symptomatic requiring valve replacement also
I find this answer helpful
