Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello,I m 21 and have been smoking weed every day for over three years. I also mix tobacco with the weed and smoke out of a bong. This is known as a popper . I also suffer from very bad anxiety, which I ve always had but the weed addiction has made it much worse over the past few years. When I am running low on weed and have no way to get more I get extremely bad anxiety (I get bad anxiety from many more social things as well). I also need to smoke a bong with tobacco or I don t get the same high feeling that I m addicted to, which also causes bad anxiety. I recently started to see a psychiatrist about my anxiety and have been given cipralex and have been taking it for 6 weeks and it hasn t helped with the anxiety at all. I want to quit smoking weed altogether because of my severe addiction and anxiety. I haven t told my psychiatrist about my weed addiction because I am very scared to tell him because of my anxiety problem. I deperately need some advice on how to go about quitting, finding a medication and if it s mandatory to tell my psychiatrist about my addiction. Thank you
thanks for asking. there appears a problem of multi substance use and associated symptoms of anxiety. It is strongly advice to give a complete information about the substance and the amount of its use. Do not fear, as if you show proper compliance to treatment any addiction can be overcomed.
