Suggest Remedy To Get Rid Of Excessive Breakout Of Acne

Hi, I had a hysterectomy with removal of the ovaries in April. I have PCOS and was taking Yasmin for quite a few years to control acne prior to surgery and it was working extremely well. Since my surgery, I have had terrible acne breakouts. I am 40 years old and my acne is worse than it ever was even at 15 years of age. I ve tried a few different things as far as HRT and it doesn t seem to matter what I do, the acne breakouts won t stop. I am not overweight and I follow a low GI diet (which I did prior to surgery as well as I am extremely hypoglycemic so quick carbs are a nightmare for me) I also exercise regularly. This acne is killing me. I m starting to actually feel depressed because of it and I want to avoid being around people because I find it so embarassing. I ve yet to meet another woman my age with this problem. Any suggestions??

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have excessive breakout of acne which occurs due to various hormonal imbalances, stress, poor hygiene as it is formed due to clogged facial pores that get infected with bacteria. In your case it seems to be hormonal mainly. You should get your hormone levels monitored. I would suggest you to apply cream rich in Azelaic acid or Kojic acid. Apply on face twice daily. Take supplements rich in vitamin C. You should take diet rich in multivitamins. It will lighten pigmentation on skin. You should use medicated sunscreen such as Tancare rich in SPF 30. Apply mashed potatoes on these pigments. Avoid touching or pricking acne. Apply cotton dipped in tea tree oil to lighten the pigments. You can visit dermatologist once and can go for chemical peeling or micro abrasion if your symptoms not resolving.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
