Suggest Remedy For Trouble In Swallowing And Gagging
my gastroenterologist wants me to have an upper GI before an esophogeal endoscopy... I gag and have trouble swallowing and am dreading the upper barium GI. Am I being a difficult patient if I respectfully decline the initial procedure and just ask for the endoscopy? I am a 53 yo female with what I believe is GERD...

thanks for your query... if you think excessive gagging is your problem then that can be taken care by spraying your throat with lox 10%. See madam, if your doctor thinks UGIE is important for you then you should get it done or else you can go for Barium swallow examination to look for the cause of dysphagia. i hope it satisfies your query.
