Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 8 year old boy was using a rebounder to try and dunk a basketball. He fell and landed on the edge of the rebounder. His elbow is somewhat swollen, but he says it hurts to straighten it. I ve been icing it, but wondered what I need to watch for before taking him in to see a doctor.
If the movements of his elbow and arm are normal, there is no need to panic. If he cannot move his arm (flexion and extension), it will be necessary consulting with his attending pediatrician and haven an X-ray of the joint done.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
