Suggest Remedy For Swollen And Sore Foot, Ankle And Lower Leg Post A Fall

I fell on Friday night getting out of the tub. My foot was sore especially around my big toe. My ankle aches all the way up to the back of my left side of my lower leg. Should I get it checked out. It mostly feels like a muscle is sore but my foot feels a little swollen.

Thank you for using our service. It is important to make sure that you can apply some weight on your foot without severe pain. It could be just an inflammation from the fall, but the other possibility would be to make sure that there is not a fracture. The best way to know that you do not have a fracture would be to make sure you are still able to move the joint. You can apply cold compress within the first two hours of the lesion, and you can keep using cold compress for 15 minutes three times a day for the first 48 hours. I hope my advice was helpful. Thank you. -Dr.JC
