Suggest Remedy For Swelling In The Hand

Yesterday I went to open the car door with my right hand and experienced a pop in my palm, followed by extreme pain. I am unable to grasp or close my hand to make a fist. My fingers feel very stiff and achy. My hand is only slightly swollen, no bruising. It even kind of aches up my arm to about my elbow, but no pain in the arm. Any ideas? Should it just go away on its own? Thanks for your help. Dawn Seamands

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
thanks a lot for your query on HCM,
looks like you must have hurt your hand badly...
there seams to be a chance of fracture in there..
do get an X ray of that region and get confirmed as to whether there exists any fracture over there...
do take some pain killers...
do keep the hand immobile...
wrap it with a crape bandage...
things will improve gradually...
