Suggest Remedy For Swelling In Eyebrow Post An Injury
I fell and hit my head on the blacktop on Wednesday. I received 2 inner stitches and 5 outer stitches just past my eyebrow soon after the hit. Today (this Friday morning) I woke up with some swelling and a slight black eye. Can I ice my injury with stitches in to reduce the swelling?
Hi Regarding the injury, it is in a place with loose skin and lot of blood supply so the swelling in the area is completely expected. Any injury will have redness and swelling which will resolve over a few days. Since you have stitches over the area, the stress of the procedure will further cause swelling until the wound starts to heal. You can use an ice pack gently over the area to reduce the swelling. Do not press. Apply the medication(antiseptic) as advised after the procedure and revisit for the removal of stitches as required. As for the dark colouration, do not worry. That is jus the swelling and bleeding that had happened around the wound and will take about a week to fade as the blood clears away in the skin. Once the stitches are removed you may use Contractubex or Hexilac gel to reduce the scarring.
