Suggest Remedy For Swelling Behind The Knee Post Injury To Shin Bone

I fell down stairs a few weeks ago and fell into a metal bannister at the bottom of the stairs - full on my shin bone. Very painful at the time but now I have developed a swelling behind my knee which doesn t seem to be getting any less with time. It is not painful but I wonder what is the best advice?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to hcm!

I read very carefully your concerns. By the history you describe the most probable is the hematoma. If it is not painful or pulsating it may gradually reabsorb and disappear gradually.

If it disturbs you and get worse you may consult an orthopedist or go through am ultrasound or MRI for more details and results.

I hope you will be fine soon.
Take Care!
